About Us

The Shuttlebirds Tatting Guild
24th Annual Workshop and Retreat
April 28-May 1, 2022
Ross Point Camp & Conference Center in Post Falls, Idaho

We are pleased to present our 24th Annual Tatting Workshop

"Carnaval"

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

We have made some changes for this year.
Please read all of the following information and
click on all of the links to see more.

About the Venue:

This will be our 4th year at the beautiful Ross Point Camp and Conference Center in Post Falls, Idaho. The camp is located in a beautiful wooded setting along the Spokane River, just one mile south of Interstate 90 and about 30 miles east of Spokane, WA and only 34 miles from the Spokane International Airport.

The facilities are beautiful and restful with large gathering rooms for vending and non-class time and provide plenty of recreational activity for our non-tatting guests.

Lodging Information:

Ross Point has lodging on site in motel style rooms (bedding, pillows and towels provided) that can accommodate up to 82 overnight guests. Each room has 2 or 3 twin beds. Cabins are also available for those that would like to share a space with 6-8 others and don't mind walking a greater distance. You must provide your own bedding, pillows and towels for the cabins. There are also 6-7 RV sites available with water and electricity but no sewer hookups.

Please note: This is Bloomsday weekend and hotel/motel rooms will be scarce from Spokane WA to Coeur d'Alene ID. If you choose offsite lodging, it is recommended that you make your reservations as early in January as possible. We are unable to provide a list of recommended accommodations offsite.

The cost varies depending on your registration and lodging/meal package choices. (All prices are in USD):

Mask Decorating Contest

Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. & Friday 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Bring your tatting bits and pieces, beads, buttons, sequins or what have you and use them to decorate your own Mardi Gras face mask. The masks and glue will be provided. When finished, add them to the display table for everyone to see and vote on. The winning entry will be announced at the conclusion of lunch on Saturday. Limited to 35.

Shuttle Decorating

Thursday 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. & Friday 6:15 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Bring your plain, boring, or naked shuttles (or buy some from the vendors) and make them unique with a little bling. The paint, glue, adhesive stickers, flat back gems, sequins, etc. will be provided for your use to personalize your shuttles. There is a limit of two shuttles per person depending on the number of participants. Limited to 50.

Tat Your Own Adventure Poker Run
with Natalie Rogers

Friday 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Natalie's very popular "Choose Your Own Adventure" guided free form tatting poker run is back. Participants will draw their cards Thursday and Friday after the meals. On Friday evening, you will gather to ask questions, swap cards if desired, and tat your 'hand'. Your creations will be shared on Saturday morning in the display area for voting. The winners will be announced at the conclusion of lunch.

Mardi Gras Gift Exchange

Saturday 6:15 p.m.
Just like the end of Mardi Gras, we want the fun to continue and everyone to have a prosperous and lucky new year! For fun, we are holding a Mardi Gras gift exchange. Similar to a White Elephant gift exchange, attendees (and spouses) bring gifts. Each person opens their gift and decides if they want to keep it or swap for another. There will be a big surprise at the end, so don't leave until you've done the second round of swapping. Participation is optional.

Display Area

Bring your tatted treasures and projects, finished or not, to show in the display area. We always enjoy seeing what everyone has been working on over the past year.

Theme Contest

Our contest theme this year is "Mardi Gras." Entries can be jewelry, a mask or fan, or anything else you choose as long as it is made using at least one of these three colors - purple, green, or gold.
